Atacama Desert, Chile
The Atacama Desert is in Northern Chile, stretching for 600 miles, from the South of Peruvian border.
How to reach:
By Air: From Santiago International Airport, go by air to Calama Airport, which is about 153 km away from Atacama Desert.
From the Calama airport, take a taxi, bus or car to reach the Desert for stargazing.
By Bus: You can reach Calama by bus from Antofagasta, Chile and Iquique, Chile. From the bus station, take a rental car or taxi to reach the stargazing point in the Desert.
Best time to visit: October and November, March and April.
Essential Gear: Sun hat, Sun block, binoculars or telescope, a camera with a B (open shutter) setting, in order to capture star trails and a stargazing guide.
