Dudhsagar, which literally means the ‘Sea of Milk’, this is the most scenic waterfall in India. It is located in the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary in Sanguem. The most amazing fact about this waterfall is that the water flows down from a height of more than 1,000 ft and is 100 ft wide. The locals call these falls by the name of ‘Vajra Sakala Falls’. They are also known as ‘Tambdi Surla Falls’ because of the famous trekking trail to the waterfall, which begins from Tambdi Surla Mahadev Temple.
The legend says that once, this waterfall was the abode of a princess, who was very beautiful and charming. After taking bath, the princess used to drink sweetened milk from a golden jug. One day, when she saw a handsome prince watching her when she was drinking the milk, she became conscious. So, to hide her modesty, she poured the milk to form a curtain, which turned into a waterfall.
