How to reach:
By Air: The nearest International airport is Melbourne Airport, which is connected to all major countries of the world. From here, you can fly to Devonport Airport or Launceston Airport which are regional airports. From there, you can go by bus or hire a car to go to the North of Cradle Mountain, which is the starting point of the track.
By Train: The Flinders Street Station in Melbourne, is the main station where there is regular service of intercity trains as Melbourne is well connected to several Australian cities by railway network.
By Road: Many buses are available in Melbourne for regional and inter-state travel. After reaching Melbourne, you have to fly to Devonport or Launceston. From there, many bus services are available to reach the starting point of the track at the Cradle Mountain. You can also hire a car and drive to the starting point of the track, which starts at Ronny Creek in Cradle Valley, besides Cradle Mountain. The walk ends at Lake St. Clair. From here, you will have to hire a ferry boat which will drop you Lake St, Clair Visiting Centre at Cynthia Bay.
Best time to visit: The most popular walking months are from 1st October to 31st May. If you go between these months, you have to make a booking of your walk, pay the fees and then walk from North (Cradle Mountain) to the South (Lake St. Clair). But if you visit the place from 1st June to 30th September, there is no need to make a booking or pay, and you can also walk in any direction.
Otherwise, November to April is the best time to visit this exotic place.
