Shimla is a marvelous and very popular hill station situated at the foothills of Himalayas. Earlier, Shimla was the Summer Capital of the British. At present, it is the State Capital of Himachal Pradesh. If you want to enjoy nature’s abundance in all forms, you should go to Shimla. Climate: Summer season is moderately cool and Winter season is extremely cold in Shimla.
You will have to wear light woolens in summers as the weather can change anytime. Heavy woolens are a must in winters.

How to reach:
By Air: Shimla has its own airport at Jubbarhatti, about 23 kms from the main city. Flights are available on a daily basis from New Delhi, Chandigarh and Kullu.
By Train: The Toy Train from Kalka to Shimla is an excellent scenic beauty experience.
By Road: Many luxury and normal buses are easily available. You can go to Shimla by private vehicles also.

Jakhu Temple is a famous religious place in Shimla. It is believed that while searching for the ‘Sanjeevani booti’ for Laxmana, Lord Hanuman stopped at this place for a while. Foot marks of Lord Hanuman are present inside the temple. There is a 108 feet high statue of Hanuman, which is the centre of attraction of this place.
It also offers a marvelous view of the wide Shivalik Range. You will have to cover a distance of 2 kms on the steep hill to reach the Temple. Lots of monkeys roam around the temple, so be prepared and be cautious.

Best month to visit: April-June. If you want to enjoy snowfall and skiing, visit this place from December-February.
Kufri is a small hill station, but is the most beautiful and adventurous place in Shimla. The amazing snow capped mountains and steep slopes are the main tourist attraction of this place.
Many exotic picnic spots, the beautiful trekking and hiking trails in and around Kufri will make this trip a memorable one. Kufri is a heaven for the skiers in the winter season. The famous Himalayan Nature Park is located in Kufri, where you can see rare birds and animal species like Himalayan Monal, felines, antelopes etc. There is another park also by the name of Indira Tourist Park, which provides an enchanting view of the places around Kufri.

Mall road is the best place to stroll in Shimla during your stay here. One side of mall road is covered with a wide variety of exclusive shops, restaurants with mouth-watering food and excellent hotels. You can relish the astonishing view of the mountains at the other side.
The Mall area is in two parts with two parallel roads. The Mall Road is the best place for shopping. The various shops offer handicrafts, woolen clothes, local wine, local food stuff and many more things. The ridge area has no shops but has some offices, the Himachal Tourism restaurant Asiana and a bar named Goofa. The road lower to the Mall is the Lakkad Bazar. Both the roads join at one end, which is called the Scandal Point. At this point, there is a statue of Lala Lajpat Rai.

Christ church is an enticing holy place and the second oldest church of North India. Tourists of all religion can visit this outstanding Church which was built in 1846-1857. The marvelous Church Tower was added in 1860. Made with neo-Gothic architectural style, the Church’s appealing brass plaques and the beautiful stained glass windows will fill your mind with faith and humility.

Viceregal lodge is an interesting place during the time of the British. Initially, it was the house of the British Viceroy of India, Lord Dufferin, but it was later turned into The Indian Institute of Advance Studies. The construction for this gorgeous Palace was started in 1880 and it took 8 years to complete it. It is decorated with fine architecture and furniture of the Jacobethan Style. It is a perfect picturesque place for photo lovers.
