How to reach:
By Air: The nearest International Airport to Ilford is Sydney Kingsford-Smith International Airport, which is at a distance of about 163 km. You can fly from the Sydney Airport to Ilford, which will take about 17 min. Or you can reach Ilford by car, which will take about 3 hrs.
After reaching Ilford, take a rental car or taxi to reach Wiruna.
By Train: Ilford Rail Station is connected to London Liverpool Street Rail Station and Brentwood Rail Station by many trains. From the Ilford Rail Station, you can take a taxi or a rental car to reach Wiruna.
By Bus: Many buses move to and fro from Ilford to London and Birmingham.
Best time to visit: In May, South Pacific Star Party is held every year, which is attended by astronomers of all types, both professional and amateurs. Wiruna is open only to the members of ASNSW, members of other societies of astronomers and their guests.
Essential Gear: The Astronomical Society of New South Wales, which owns Wiruna, provides observation facilities and accommodations for stargazers, who come here from all over the world.
