Location: Kamari, Santorini

This is so much fun. How about a movie in the open when the sun is setting and the sky is beginning to grow dark! The Greeks are considered to be the inventors of open-air cinema, and the theatre in Santorini is the first among them. Popular since the 20’s, it offers a great treat to watch a movie below the Mediterranean sky. Movie starts at 9.30pm with wine, beer and simple snacks available. All the movies are in English, with subtitles in Greek.

Akrotiri Minoan Site

Location: Akrotiri

The site of Akrotiri is located on the southern end of Santorini between the Red Beach and Akrotiri village. Excavations revealed ancient settlements around 1866 and many excavations later, fully developed settlements were revealed in 1967. It was understood that the 4500 BC town was destroyed twice, once by earthquake in 17 century BC and then by volcanic eruption a century later around 1650 BC. Covered by lava and ash, the town was preserved for years before being excavated. It is a great place to visit especially by those who love history.
