Trinity Larva of St. Sergius

This 14th century Russian Orthodox Church is a work of art and spirituality that is still growing strong. Dedicated to its founder St. Sergius, the Trinity Larva of St. Sergius has the following major buildings; ‘The Trinity Cathedral’- built in the 15th century. This replaced the wooden church, which was made by Sergius. The major attraction of this holy place is the relics of St.Sergius. The medieval architecture of the cathedral looks spectacular. ‘The Assumption Cathedral’- this 16th century Cathedral was made by Ivan, and is the largest of the monastery. Its middle golden tower is surrounded by the two blue colored towers. It is operated in the summers. ‘The Church of the Holy Spirit’- This is the monastery’s second largest building and is made of white stone and blue colored dome, the interior is well decorated with unique traditional paintings. ‘The Bell Tower’- this tallest building of the monastery is made in Baroque style with beautiful decorations. ‘The Refectory with the Church of St. Sergius’- It was built to provide food and shelter for the pilgrims, the inside is decorated with unique oil paintings and other decorative materials. ‘The Tsar Palace’- This luxurious palace has beautiful designs and interior. ‘The Chapel over the Well’- People come here to collect the holy water. Be sure to follow the rules and wear appropriate clothes, while your visit to the holy place. Many of the Russian great and noticeable personalities are buried in this place. The best part as a tourist about this place is that admission here is free of cost, although in order to take the photographs inside this holy place, you will have to pay.

Location: Sergiev Posad, Moskovsky, Russia, almost 70 kms North-East from Moscow

Timings: It is open daily from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. 5th -18th July, 25th September- 8th October are special days and the monastery is open 24 hrs.

Climate: Hemi-boreal climate. Winters are long and cold. Summers are warm.

Wear loose cottons in summers and warm woolens in winters.

Best time to visit: April-May

How to reach: To get to the monastery, you will first have to reach Moscow by bus, train or car. From there, you will have to walk about 1 km to reach the monastery.

Dormition Cathedral

Location: Moscow, Russia. It is located to the North side of the Cathedral Square of Moscow Kremlin.

Timings:  Open all days except Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This 15th century Cathedral has a very important position in the Russian history. It was created by the Italian architect, Aristotele Fioravanti on the orders of Ivan Kalita. This cathedral has frescoes painted with unique religious paintings. The intriguing golden bright chandeliers suspended in the air look magnificent. From the outside, the golden domes are a typical example of unique Russian architecture.

Moscow Kremlin

Location: Moscow, Russia

Timings: Open all days except Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The Moscow Kremlin is the most famous site of Moscow and a face of Russia and its culture. Built in the late 1400’s, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is located in the middle of the Moscow city, facing the great Moscow River.  The meaning of the word ‘Kremlin’ is ‘Strength’ or ‘Fortified City’. Saint Basil's Cathedral
