Settled at the lower end of Lake Zurich, Zurich is a calm, beautiful city and the largest in the Switzerland. For a global city of its size and the prosperity it possesses, Zurich has relatively less population which itself is a bizarre phenomenon. Zurich was founded by the great Romans but it were the Germans who managed to leave a big influence on Zurich which can be seen on its language which is German and is widely spoken in Zurich. The love for art in Zurich cannot be hidden as it is flooded with museums and art galleries, people appreciate great art and Zurich has always been a holiday home for great artists from all over the world. Quality of life in Zurich is the best in the world because of the great infrastructure, transportation, wealth, less crime, calm and serene environment which attracts many from all over the world.

Climate: Oceanic climate, Spring from March to May is cool requiring slightly warm clothes or layering. End of the season, rains can begin. Summers from June to August are warm but there is rain, so carry light clothes with something for the rains and the cool nights. Autumns from September to October are mild, carry slightly warm clothes, there can be short downpours. November to February are cold requiring very warm clothes.

How to reach               

By Air: Zurich’s Kloten Airport situated 11 km at the north of the City centre is well connected to major international cities. It is easily reachable by Swiss Federal Railways or via road.

By Rail: Zurich is connected to other European and Swiss cities via railway network and Hauptbahnhof is one of the busiest railway stations of the world.

By Road: Long distant bus coaches and local Public transport, ZW offer easy transportability. Zurich is connected to other major cities via highways making it easily accessible by Cars or Buses.

Located southeast of the Zurich city, Lake Zurich attracts many visitors who come to Zurich to take a dip in the lake in the special swimming areas. After a nice swim in the nice and clear water of the lake you can sit on the ground nearby and dry yourself in the sunshine while having a picnic lunch of Swiss cheese fondue, chocolate and wine. You can choose from different types of water sports in the lake and if you are a more subtle one, you can order some nice Swiss delicacies from the restaurants near the lake while admiring the beauty of the lake. You can also take boat rides in the banana shaped lake or visit Rapperswil, the rose town near the lake.  The public garden here has nearly 15000 bushes of roses blooming to charm the visitors.

Swiss National Museum

The Swiss museum from time to time publishes the latest developments in the field of the research on the projects and exhibitions for public. The gardens and the chateau charm the visitors with their beauty and the amazing view of Lake Geneva.

Kunsthaus Zürich

This Swiss art gallery is known for its collection of paintings and sculptures, drawings, photos and exhibitions. The gallery makes a conscious effort to educate the young children about the history by organizing workshops and themed tours. Housing almost 4000 art works, paintings, installations and sculptures, its collections span from the middle ages to modern times. It has a library dedicated to the modern arts with the publications from 19th to 21st century. The art works include artists like Pablo Picasso and many other well known Swiss artists.

Grossmünster

Location: Grossmünsterplatz, 8001 Zürich, Switzerland

How to reach: Easily accessible by car, bus, trams.

Built in 1100 this Roman style church is one of the most recognized landmarks in the city of Zurich, its double towers can be seen far from the city. The entry to the church is free. The church has a rich architecture and its stained window glass looks majestic. If legend is to be believed, the church was built on the graves of two patron saints of the city, Felix and Regula. The church is well known for its choir windows made by Augusto Giacometti and the stained glass windows by Sigmar Polke. The Romanasque crypt and the Reformation museum are also greatly admired. Photography and videos are not allowed inside. This church is definitely worth a go and a good way to explore Swiss history.

Uetliberg

Location: Swiss plateau

This Mountain in the Swiss plateau is a paradise for hikers and mountain bikers in the summer season and sledding in the winters, this picturesque place is a good way to get the panoramic view of nature and the city of Zurich. You can enjoy the Swiss menu of the various restaurants, do activities like paragliding, biking, hiking and sledding on the snow. You could see the huge Uetliberg TV-tower and there are Water fountains and camping spots on the way.
